Future Issues

Ours is a rapidly changing world. Global political realignment, changing social values, feeding an ever increasing world population, developments in cloning and genetic engineering, and a frantic search by governmental agencies for sources of increased revenue are but a few of the elements effecting issues which have potentially devastating effects on the future of the recreational fishing industry.

Listed below are a few of the foreseeable issues which RFA / TEXAS can presently identify as potentially threatening in the near future. There are many other such issues just beneath the surface. It is important that we learn more about them and try to understand them, so that we can determine the possible perils to the recreational angling community. It is of UTMOST importance, that we take a PROACTIVE approach regarding these issues. It is much easier to nip problems in the bud, than to attempt to wrestle with them after they have emerged and matured. A prime example is the issue of Aquaculture / Mariculture. We will be far more effective in dealing with the potential negative side effects of this industry by becoming part of the regulatory process BEFORE this industry matures and billions of dollars are invested in it.

We ask you to take time to peruse this page, and consider the issues outlined below.  If WE  don't take action to protect the rights and environment of the recreational angling community ----- WHO WILL ?

If you are NOT a member of RFA / TEXAS, we invite you to join, and help us in this battle. If you ARE already a member, we urge you to convince your friends and fishing buddies to join, and help us carry the battle forward.
