RFA / TEXAS To File
Lawsuit On Cedar Bayou / Vinson Slough Issue
Mr. Jim Smarr, Chairman of RFA / TEXAS, announced today that RFA has decided that the time has come to file a lawsuit to reopen Cedar Bayou and Vinson Slough.
Mr. Smarr states that RFA will seek total restoration of the approximately twenty thousand acres of coastal wetlands damaged by the closing of Vinson Slough, and the complete and permanent reopening of both Cedar Bayou and Vinson Slough.
The lawsuit is expected to be filed in Federal District Court within the next few weeks. The several Federal, State, and County agencies which participated in, or signed off on, the two previous ill fated attempts at dredging Cedar Bayou, and the closing of the mouth of Vinson Slough, as well as the owners of the effected property in the area will likely be named as defendants.
