Freshwater Inflow

RFA / TEXAS recognizes the extreme importance of freshwater inflow into our bays and estuaries. We will fight for the water rights necessary to maintain the health of our coastal environment.

We support the efforts of the San Marcos River Foundation (SMRF) to acquire water rights necessary to insure the minimum inflow established by TPWD as critical to the health of our bays and estuaries.

We have written the Lieutenant Governor and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) expressing our support for the issue. Our representatives attended the TCEQ hearing in Austin on March 19, 2003 regarding that application, and voiced our support for the issue at the hearing. Unfortunately the application was denied by the Commission. SMRF will be appealing that decision soon, and Judicial Review will probably be forthcoming. We will keep our membership advised of developments on this issue. We may issue an RFA / Texas Minuteman Alert if necessary
